Lesson 3 www.guitar-tracks.com

EXTENDED CHORDS (or enriched chords)

We will usually think of extended chords as chords with a fifth at the bottom. These chords are available in a descending or ascending position and can be played with a root on the 5th or 4th string (chords with a root on the 6th string have nowhere to go unless you are playing a seven string guitar).

Open your book on page 31 and take a look at the note on REVERSED INTERVALS. It will help you understand the position of the 5th in relation to the Root.
